Iowa

Despite the fact that there are tens of millions of nontheistic Americans, we remain one of the most marginalized groups in the country.  The Secular Coalition for America is working to make sure that we are heard on Capitol Hill. We fight in Washington DC against religious privileging on a federal level, yet some of the most egregious violations of separation of church and state are being promoted and passed at a state levelWe need your help to see real change in Des Moines and across Iowa.

The Secular Coalition for America is forming state chapters across the country. Our chapters will bring together secular Americans in each state to influence government officials, legislation, and regulations. A Secular Coalition for America state chapter is unlike any other nontheistic state organization—it brings together interested organizations and individuals for the exclusive purpose of lobbying government officials.

Well being and time - two things we are born with that we can never get back once they are lost

~~Hello, I have heard about this group and I wanted to introduce myself. I'm a high school biology teacher and football coach at a small school district. In my community, there still is a strong religious influence on children where some children "won't believe" in evolution and some parents don't want their child to be taught evolution. Ultimately, I think we need promotions of science and reasoning along with morals and philosophy. Where else do young children learn moral lessons other than the religious church and indoctrination? I'm an optimistic person with an open mind. Read more about Well being and time - two things we are born with that we can never get back once they are lost

Introductions!

I'm not seeing any posts yet, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling.

I'm Jennie. I live in NW Iowa.

I dislike Steve King and campaigned against him last year.

I'm really looking forward to working on the Get Religion Out of Government campaign that's slated to focus on Iowa during the run up to the caucaus for the pres. elections.

I've got 2 little boys, and a loving husband and we love to grow veggies and camp.
