Secular Coalition for North Carolina (SCNC) is pleased to announce our first Lobby Day to be held at the NC Legislative Office Building (LOB) in Raleigh on Tuesday, June 3, 2014.
We invite you to come to Raleigh to talk with legislators about SCNC positions on legislation that touches on issues of religion/government separation and to introduce them to the mission of our organization. We will have a staffed table at the LB 1000 Court starting at 9am where materials can be picked up for use in meetings and where we can team up as small groups for the meetings. You will be provided with Letters of Introduction, copies of SCA’s Model Secular Policy Guide, and talking points on issues.
In preparation for our event, Secular Coalition for America (SCA) is offering a free Webinar on the art of Lobbying on Tuesday, May 27 at 7:15, following our May conference call. Even if you are not able to attend Lobby Day, you are invited to participate in the Webinar and schedule an appointment with your representative when he/she is in his/her home office, usually Monday morning and Friday. We also recommend Amanda Knief’s book, The Citizen Lobbyist, a quick read, to the point, and very informative.
Please RSVP to [email protected] for both the Lobby Day and for the Webinar so we can provide you with additional details. Arrival time is flexible as our table will be staffed throughout the day. Let us know what time you will be able to arrive so that we can contact the offices of the lawmaker with whom you wish to meet and schedule your meeting.
If we want to be heard, we must speak up! Lobby Day is one way we can build relationships with legislators and begin to influence legislation in NC. Keeping religion out of government and government out of religion protects us all!
