SHSNY: The Secular Humanist Society of New York

The SHSNY is a non-profit organization.  We are affiliated with the Council for Secular Humanism and we are the NYC Charter Chapter of the American Humanist Association. We fully endorse the efforts of the Secular Coalition for America and the Secular coalition for New York.  We hold weekly meetings, including informal gatherings, book discussions, lectures and other events.  These can be found on out web site our meetup page (http://www.meetup.com/shsny-org/) and we have a facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Secular-Humanist-Society-of-New-York/168704396485734?ref=hl).   We are actively recruiting members.  Humanism is the philosophy of life guided by reason and science, freed from religious and secular dogmas, motivated by an appreciation of life and the lives of others, seeking to reach goals of human happiness, freedom and understanding on this earth, in this life. Our Board of Directors include: John Rafferty — President, Editor; Robert A. Murtha, Jr. — Vice President; Donna Marxer — Treasurer; Lee Loshak — Secretary; Remo Cosentino; Arthur Harris; Elaine Lynn; Carl Marxer ;Irv Milman; Carlos Mora; John Wagner (who is also the Co-chair of the Secular Coalition for New York), and Mike Weiss.
