Did you know that in Tennessee, parents can legally deny their children life-saving medical care if doing so in accordance with their religious beliefs, even if the child is seriously injured or dies as a result? Senate Bill 1761, which just passed the legislature and is on its way to Governor Haslam's desk, would change that.
This legislation would amend Tennessee's criminal code to remove this dangerous loophole to child welfare laws. Religious beliefs are not an excuse to endanger a child's life.
Take action now by urging Governor Haslam to sign the bill into law and thanking your lawmakers for supporting it. It's time for Tennessee to stop allowing religious priviledge to endanger the health and safety of children.
