Secular Coalition for Virginia Speaks Out Against Teaching Creationism

The Secular Coalition for Virginia was interviewed regarding HB 207, which would allow teachers to instruct students on so-called Intelligent Design under the guise of "challenging accepted scientific theories."

The bill was pre-filed on December 27, 2013 and introduced properly on January 8, 2014 by Virginia State Rep. Richard P. Bell (R). The bill has been referred to the Committee on Education and the Secular Coalition for Virginia will be taking up the fight on the state level. Previous similar bills were defeated last year in Montana and Colorado with the help of the SCA's state chapters.
